Radio Wowsville 12/7/08: "People Say We Monkee Around""

Thanks to everyone who made the big MONKEETHON such a blast (and don't forget to catch Head tonight at the WTJU Rock and Roll Movie screening). My lovely co-host Miss Olivia gets kudos for her keen requests (especially "Riu Chiu"), and it was great to have Nick Rubin stop by and confide his deeply-rooted Monkee love (your secret's safe with me, Swami). Most of all, a shoutout needs to be sent to the three callers who rang in and kept the evening weird. The first one thanked us for airing his favorite Beatles song, "Last Train to Clarksville." The second one was sure we were playing Jefferson Airplane and swore up and down that Micky Dolenz was Grace Slick. The last one rang up and said the music was "great" but that the show was "annoying." Yes, the great Monkees debate rages on!

2. "I Don't Think You Know Me" (Mike version)
13. "She"
21. "She'll Be There"
22. "Salesman" (alt. mix)
27. "Star Collector" (alt. mix)
28. "Special Announcement"

Dang, we ran out of time and didn't even get to most of the Head soundtrack, or anything from the group's last three LPs. Oh well... Central Virginia will just have to wait to hear the inscrutable "Shorty Blackwell."
