Radio Freedonia, April 8, 2009: The Impossible Dream

That's Beatrice. Her birthday was last Wednesday, so I thought I'd give her some facetime here. She's uberrad as you can tell - also a wedding-night baby, if her mom and dad are to be believed, which they are, man.

Had a blast last night, despite requisite train wrecks. Decided to feature some tunes from Michigan, to honor the MSU Spartans and the Great Lake State in their hour of disappointment. You know what they say: a tie is like kissing your sister, a loss is like being feted on community radio. So listeners heard punk from Detroit/Ann Arbor, some recently resurrected and some waiting for a turn. Also Alice Cooper's surprisingly sensitive "Shoes Salesman" and the Igster's shoulda-been hit from '77.

Also got to play some of the new Mike Watt collabo project, which is the best stuff I've heard from him in years and years. Playlist.
