Radio Wowsville 10/19/2008: "Levi Stubbs' Tears"

This installment of Wowsville included a tribute to Levi Stubbs, the lead singer of the Four Tops. The burr-voiced Stubbs, who passed away on Friday, was different that the rest of the classic Motown singers, writes Greg Kot. "Stubbs was all about raw emotion. Whereas Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye and the rest served the song, Stubbs sounded as if he was caught up in something that no mere pop arrangement could contain."
    He was also the unforgettable voice of Audrey II, the man-eating plant in Little Shop of Horrors. FEED ME... FEED ME...
