nowhere near 9.10.08 playlist

Time for the debut episode of my new show, Nowhere Near. Nothing's changed at all from the Pure Easy Listening days besides the name. Otherwise, it'll be the same old mediocre crap that reminds you you're still at least 48 hours away from the weekend.

Being the hyper-obvious doofus that I am, I started the show off with a version of the title track. It happens to be a personal favorite of mine among the Yo La Tengo repertoire. Beyond that we covered some very familiar ground and then played some Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. I decided to kick it old school and only play CDs — I left the laptop at home this time.

Oh yeah — this fall I'm celebrating 5 or 6 years in the Rob Sheffield timeslot (Wednesday 2-4), and 10 consecutive years on the air at WTJU overall. Take that, terrorists!
