The Eclectic Wowsville, 9/7-9/8/08

I subbed in for Wowsville last night, in addition to doing my own show, so that led to a lengthy and interesting excursion. I spent part of the first hour attempting to approximate a Wowsville show, then went on a weird Paul McCartney-obscurities tangent, before realizing I was really just in the mood to hear hyperactive jungle/breakcore-mashups. By 1am I had developed a pretty intense sinus headache and felt exhausted, so the last two hours of the show contained only 6 songs, designed to soothe and sedate any and all listeners (myself included). All things considered, I think it turned out pretty well... thanks to Nick for the enthusiastic call-in.

* {that "Gary Gilmore" track from "Cremaster 2" is actually performed by Patty Griffin (?!) and the singer from Morbid Angel... the part that I played on the show can be found at 5min into that video clip. the guy drumming with the bees in the beginning is Dave Lombardo from Slayer, and the whole thing is apparently meant to represent Johnny Cash's 11th-hour phone call to Gilmore before his execution. the video clip is mildly NSFW.}
