The Interesting Times Tribune, with your regular host Juan Bailar and special guest DJ Hummingbird Feeder.
We started things off with a Neil Young mini-marathon, which due to my insistence included a track from the long-forgotten 1982 album Trans, otherwise known as the "Neil tries to sound like Kraftwerk" album. I hadn't really heard it since college, so we had to pick a track based solely on the (amazing) song titles ... probably worth noting that we initially misread the song as "Space Cowboy (Skycrusher)," which is even more incredible.
Anyway, here's the set:
Neil Young - "Danger Bird"
Neil Young - "Walk On"
Neil Young - "Space Cowboy (aka Syscrusher)"
Neil Young - "Albequerque"
the Beach Boys - "Heroes and Villians" parts 1+2
Tarat de Haidoutes - "Gypsy Lament"
Cafe Tecuba - "Maria"
Double Dee and Steinski - "Lesson 3"
Coldcut - "Say Kids, What Time is it?"
the Bar-Kays - "Soul Finger"
Kool G Rap - "Ill Street Blues"
Ollie and the Nightingales - "I Got a Sure Thing"
the Skatalites - "I Should Have Known Better"
OOIOO - "On Mani"
Flower Travellin' Band - "Satori part III"
"Khajapikus" from a Greek Folk compilation
Tangerine Dream - "Sunrise in the Third System"
Suede - "Pantomime Horse"
Spacemen 3 - "Things'll Never Be the Same"
Spiritualized - "No God, Only Religion"
Arthur Russell - "She's the Star / I Take This Time"
... and a Happy numerically-badass Birthday to Ramona Sparks from Black Circle Revolution!

that neil young album was AWESOME. Hearing classic neil guitar riffs with a robot voice really started my birthday off on the right note. Bravo! Though I'm a bit disappointed that Jah Wobble+The Edge+Can didn't make the playlist. Next time...
