Concentric Squares, August 4 2008 2-4pm

I subbed for DJ Danger Dimples today, happy to take advantage of the daytime opportunities. Aer Stephen came in at 3pm, and we had the Band House House Band (members of the Asylum Street Spankers) play a live set/interview for a half an hour. Then I came back on for the last 15 minutes - it was kind of a weird way to do it, but I was happy to have a touring band come on WTJU and Aer set everything up so I really didn't do shit during the setup/breakdown/interview/set except check email and listen to the show!

To preview Radio Freedonia this week: given the annual peak heat that has statistically just passed us, I want to do the annual Swamp Rock show, but Helvidius has to miss it so I'll just do that for half a show. So if you have swampy favorites - either from swampy places or just sounding swampy - let me know yo!

Ok so here's CONCENTRIC SQUARES from today. The first full set was inspired by a weekend trip to Athens GA. Bryan Poole (the late BP Helium and member of many other bands) fronted a Wings cover band that made me reevaluate the whole concept of cover bands. Blew my little mind.

i used to spend summers down in texas, where my stepdad was prone to busting out leon russel of a sunday morning.
lot's of wack/good stuff on will o' the wisp, but 'down on deep river' is probably the swampiest...
