After Don's impressive Hayes-athon, I felt the need to pay tribute to the man in my own way; I started the show with some songs written by Hayes/Porter, and then a few that sampled Hayes notably. The PE track is an obvious one that didn't even cross my mind until Don played the original while I was driving to the station; and that's Isaac tickling the electric ivories on the Sam&Dave number. That man's influence was everywhere.

So, who wants to hang out and watch Wattstax? I have a feeling it'll be a while before we're done paying tribute to the world's funkiest scientologist. (although the closest runner-up is still alive and well, and looking virtually un-aged last I saw him...)
